Our friend Juan Gomez needs your help. In the early morning hours of July 20th, a fire broke out at the Iconic Village Apartments where Juan was a resident. The destruction caused by the fire was devastating, burning down three buildings and leaving 200 people homeless. Caught off guard while asleep in the middle of the night, Juan had no time to grab any of his personal belongings and lost it all. Here is a news article released on the day of the incident.

It's difficult to calculate the total cost of everything he lost but the estimate is in the thousands and includes all of his clothing, his furniture, his laptop and other electronic devices, his prescription glasses (and remaining contact lenses), all of his toiletries, food, books, and even his wallet, passport, and car keys among many other valuable things. In addition to all of this, a collection of CPA & LSAT test-prep books valued at over $1,000 were also lost in the fire. This one was particularly tough because Juan had already spent months preparing for the CPA exam. Losing the entire set of books was not only a steep monetary loss but also a momentum killer in his professional development and pursuit of the CPA certification.
If, like me, you live far away from Juan and cannot help him in person, please consider making a small donation to this campaign. Juan is eager to get his life back on track and has started a new job to supplement his income in these hard times. Any help we can provide him puts him a step closer to getting his life back in order and continue pursuing his goals.
At this moment, we have a goal of $1,000 to help him buy a new laptop and get him back on track with his studies. If we can get just 50 people to chip in $20 we will get there in no time! Even if you can only chip in $10 or $5 dollars, Juan will be extremely grateful and promises to study even harder than ever to obtain the CPA and return the favor one day.
