Hydration for Academic Success

Hello! Our names are Kelsea Browne and Benjamin Coleman and for our senior projects we hope to install Elkay water bottle filling stations at North Kingstown High School and Davisville Middle School respectively. Water bottle filling machines are simple: just place your water bottle underneath the spout and watch as the machine quickly fills it with clean, filtered water. The machine even counts how many plastic water bottles have been saved by switching to reusable water bottles. The machines can be costly, but are worth the environmental and academic benefits. Not only would they reduce the amount of plastic and carbon emissions used to produce plastic water bottles, but it has been scientifically supported that increased hydration helps improve the visual memory and attention span of students. This could boost the test scores of North Kingstown students for the entire district’s benefit. However, in order to accomplish this, we need YOUR help! If each student in the district was to donate just $1, we would have more than enough to fund the installation of several machines in both schools.

IF YOU DONATE $10, YOU WILL RECEIVE A REUSABLE NKSD WATER BOTTLE THAT CAN BE USED AT THESE MACHINES AS A GIFT FOR YOUR GENEROUS CONTRIBUTION. Please consider donating, even if it is just a couple dollars. Every contribution brings us one step closer to our goal. If the project is a success, it is more likely that these machines will be installed in other NKSD schools in the near future. In addition, the Greenlove Foundation has generously offered to match the funds raised. Therefore, for every dollar you donate, we receive TWO dollars to go towards these machines.
