Ann Arbor Non Lethal Deer Managemen

Donation protected
This campaign is to take the legal battle against the Ann Arbor Deer cull ( in which 67 deer were killed in winter 2016) to a new court - the Michigan Court of Claims, in front of Judge Boonstra. This hunting in city parks is a public safety emergency, and the cull is illegal under State law.

Hearings are expected to be scheduled the month of April. This lawsuit is intended to stop the deer cull, and prevent further endangerment of the public, in the public park system. Beyond the lawsuit, The Save the Deer and Ann Arbor Residents for Public Safety, are digging into the salcious emails to and from certain council members, and the shadowy special interest group WC4EB. We are dedicated to publishing and continuing discovery, of all possible corruption within the Ann Arbor City Council, and the false premises on which the deer cull was based.

Here is the history:

On August 17th, 2015, Ann Arbor City Council voted,
despite overwhelming public opposition, to implement a "shoot to kill" deer slaughter program in the public parks within city limits, all within close proximity to densely populated areas.

On November 5th, 2015, they voted to use a legal contrivance, a "moritorium" to suspend the municipal law that preventing using firearms in those parks. However, there are still state and municipal laws that make the use of firearms in our urban parks explictly illegal, and those laws are there to protect public safety.

Also on November 5th, they voted to contract with the USDA - APHIS animal control agency, to supply sharpshooters and start the slaughter anytime between January 1st and March 31st 2016. The contract gives APHIS the task of carrying out an unneccessary slaughter,  totally unsupervised by any local government or neighborhood organization. There has been no fact - based or professional report to prove that 200 deer we have is too many, or that they are a serious menace to our ecology, or that they are unhealthy, or that deer accidents are increasing in city limits, or that non lethal methods of population control would not work.

A group of Ann Arbor Citizens organized under the group name Ann Arbor Citizens for Public Safety, has filed a lawsuit and served the Complaint to the Ann Arbor police to demand that the shooting be canceled.

We filed a complaint in federal court, and although our TRO was rejected, we are still in that court, pending the outcome of the current lawsuit in Court of Claims.

Meanwhile, the cull took place, a bit later than it would have started, because we caused a delay with the legal battle. Still, 67 deer lost their lives, and a great many "close calls" happenned where hapless residents continued to use the parks just yards from where the muffled gunfire was taking place. Several of these public safety near misses were actually caught on video and will be uploaded to our site.

This fund raising campaign is to build the financial resources to go to trial, and achieve a temporary restraining order from a judge, to protect our public safety and avoid wasting and destroying our natural resources ( the deer, and our parks) and avoid wasting taxpayer funds. This is a time critical mission and your contribution is needed now!
