The Alley Music Studios is the last of its kind. As part of the foundation of the California Music Movement in the late 60s into the early 70s, the musicians who have passed through the doors are nothing short of legendary. From Jimi Hendrix to Frank Sinatra; The Beatles to Linda Ronstadt; Jackson Browne and Ozzy; The Red Hot Chili Peppers and Bonnie Raitt; and so many others. Referred to as the extension of the Legends of Laurel Canyon ("Echo in the Canyon" a movie focusing on the music history of Laurel Canyon currently in theaters), the studio has cultivated the cross-pollination of music that has transcended generations. The studio is a time capsule, a museum paying homage to multiple eras of music.
The Alley Music Studios is on the verge of being demolished to make way for more luxury apartments in the NoHo Arts District.
In a Nutshell:
When the original owner passed away, John Strand(A long time friend of the Alley) stepped up, sold his house and assets to purchase the alley and save it from demolition. During this process we have acquired immense legal fees. Now we need all the help that we can get to pay them off otherwise there will be no more Alley.
We need your help to save The Alley. We are organizing a benefit concert and currently holding tours of the studio to help raise money. But the fastest way is for you all to help us. Please take a stand with us! Stop greedy developers from putting money first over community.
