Update:

Hello all, and thank you for your generosity! Unfortunately the original opportunity to travel to Armenia has been cancelled by my school's anthropology department, as not enough students applied for the program. However, I have been invited to work on another site, this one in Germany, that is a sure thing. The cost for this other opportunity is less than half that of the Armenia trip, as all expenses are covered, apart from those related to travel and necessary equipment. As such, I'm lowering the goal to $2000.

I will now be working at the Hohle Fels site, another active Paleolithic archaeological dig, in the Swabian Alps of Southern Germany under archeologist Nicholas Conard of the University of Tübingen. As they cover all housing needs and food, my only costs are related to travel: airfare from either Boston or New York City to Stuttgart, train and other transport within Germany, and required gear including sleeping bag, sheets, boots, some clothing, and incedentals (laundry, and a small descretionary fund in case of emergency).

I'm sending a heartfelt thank you to all who have been so generous to help fund this excursion, as well as those who have passed this page down the grapevine. Any additional help is greatly appreciated.

Once again, thank you all for your kindness and generosity.

Hello,

I have been accepted to participate in an Archaeological Field School in Armenian Prehistory. The program, through the University of Connecticut where I am completing my degree in Anthropology, will take place during the month of July, this coming summer.

For the program, I will be living in the Armenian capital city of Yerevan and working in the Hrazdan Gorge just north of the city.  I will be paticipating in archaeological excavations and environmental reconstructions at a 400,000-300,000 year old Stone Age site. Aside from excavations, I will be helping in an archaeological survey of the Hrazdan Gorge and its surroundings in search of important new sites.

The cost of the program is around $5,000, depending of the cost of airfare. As this is a summer program, my normal financial aid can not be used and scholarships are unavailable.  As I am paying for this on my own, any help would be greatly appreciated.
