My name is Lisa Harmon and I've been blessed to call this special lady my dear friend for over 35 years.
Carol Sue Friedrich Alcorn is one of the most amazing women you will ever meet! She is a wife, mother, daughter, sister, amazing friend and so much more!
HER STORY
Carol was diagnosed with breast cancer in October of 2000. After surgery and chemotherapy she entered remission in the Fall of 2001.
Cancer returned in 2009 and shook their blended family to its core. This time it had returned in Carol's bones. She endured another schedule of chemotherapy and defeated cancer again.
In December of 2009 she was about to return to work fulltime. As the New Year dawned, what was thought to be a sinus infection turned out to be cancer's return. This time it had moved to her brain. She has been battling this dreaded disease non-stop ever since.
Carol's strength, determination, beauty, faith, and concern for others has never waivered in her lengthy battle with cancer. Despite her own struggles, she, her family and friends founded an organization to help other women battling breast cancer. Through the challenges she faced, The Power of The Giraffe was born.

Despite all of the prayers, love and support, Carol's battle is coming to an end. At the beginning of October 2015 she was placed on home hospice. With family and friends by her side, Carol is being kept as comfortable as possible in her final days.
Through out this journey one man has never left Carol's side and that is her husband, Dale Alcorn. He has been the rock that has kept this family going. Their blended family is blessed with 6 children, Marybeth, Doug, Ashlyn, Andrew, Josie and Kristopher. Two have grown and are on their own, two are in college, and two are still at home.
Between doctor's appointments, radiation treatments, sporting events, school functions, and all of their other family commitments, Dale has exhausted all of his paid vacation time. And although they are blessed to have good health insurance, bills from Carol's lengthy medical battle have added up.
While Dale has handled all of these challenges with amazing strength, it is my hope that we, the people that love Carol dearly, can do something to help make this family's life a little easier. Won't you consider making a donation so that in the difficult days ahead money is one less thing they have to worry about? Please help this man spend as much time as possible, in these last days, with the love of his life......
All donations will be given directly to their family. Dale and Carol have not asked for this fundraiser. I just wanted to help find a way to show them how much we love and support them!!!
