Hope for Harvey

Harvey is a rescue cat from Ridgewood, NY with a special story. Found near a feral cat colony, Harvey came into our lives with a mouthful of broken teeth, a BB in his hind leg, a matted mess of fur and an FIV+ diagnosis. Harvey made a full recovery from his rough start with us and has enjoyed three years of healthy life in our home. But now he is facing another uphill battle.

On September 24'th Harvey's breathing became extremely distressed. We rushed him to the vet where he was treated for a rare condition called pleural effusion - or buildup of fluid in the sac between his lungs and his abdomen. Vets worked to remove over 350 ml of liquid from Harvey's chest, saving his life. In the past two days he has stabilized and has started to act more like his goofy, adorable self again. We are optimistic, but he isn't out of the woods yet. 

Harvey needs a sonogram to determine the root cause of his pleural effusion, which could become critical again at any time as fluids re-accumulate around his lungs. The cost of the sonogram is $1000, and since vet bills for Harvey's initial visit already total $600, we are asking our community for help to give Hope for Harvey.
