Direct Action: Fund Comfrey Root

On March 6th, Comfrey Jacobs, also known as Comfrey Root, a twenty-year old citizen from Grand Junction, CO, placed life, limb and freedom on the line by blocking the access road to Yellowstone National Park’s Stephens Creek bison trap in hopes of preventing more of America’s last wild, migratory bison from being shipped to slaughter.

His action effectively halted the operation, and he was arrested and is now undergoing legal proceedings.

This campaign's intent is to raise $5,000 as a seed fund for the path this young man must now walk as he has dared to stand in the way of human aggression toward the other creatures of our planet.

If it raises $25,000, or $250,000, or whatever ridiculous amount it takes to fully ensure that this action becomes a symbol of what's possible in creating a world that works for all, that's ok too - but I say let's put some resources into this guy's hands so he can wage an empowered fight.



A note from the originator of this campaign:

My name is Shawn Madden. I befriended Comfrey on Facebook after seeing him in Richard Grant's documentary "American Nomads" and have been following him for around 18 months. I have not yet met him in person.

I started this campaign because I am inspired by his willingness to stand in the face of anything and everything for what he believes in, and I believe that kind of courage must be rewarded with support and alliance.

A few folks have written to inquire as to my connection to Comfrey and to ensure that the campaign is legitimate. I assure you this campaign is 100% legitimate. I am in communication with Comfrey and his family and the Buffalo Field Campaign where he is currently volunteering, and we have worked out a plan to make sure the money is transferred to him as soon as possible.
