New toilet block for Sunrise School

As many of you know, I will be returning to Ghana this June to volunteer again with Original Volunteers. 

They do some seriously amazing work out there and whilst I strongly believe that dedicating your time to teaching the kids they help can help make a difference, this year I wanted to do a little more. After speaking to one of the co-ordinators about fundraising, he suggested I help raise funds for the toilet block they are building at Sunrise school since I saw them start the project and know how desperately in need of a toilet block they are. 

Currently the children use the fisherman's waste site as a toilet and there is a small mud hut which is also used but it's literally just that. The lack of sanitation leads to easy transmission of many serious diseases. The new toilet block will provide them with toilets with running water and is being built by volunteers as we speak. Obviously the plumbing is very expensive though so it is taking some time to complete. The money I raise will go towards the completion of the toilet block. If I manage to raise funds that excede what is necessary for the toilet block, money will go towards buying water filters for remote villages and providing healthcare for the children. 

Original Volunteers Ghana is an amazing project and those who work there and the children involved have given me some of the most incredible experiences of my life so far. Please help me return the favour by donating anything you can.

Should all my training go to plan, I will be running the Great Scottish Run in October, (half a marathon - Lord help me!) for original volunteers. It's the weekend after my birthday so will be sacrificing my 21st celebrations to do this. Any donation no matter how small would mean the world to me.
