Sometimes I wonder why God placed Niñios De La Promisma in TJ, Mexico on my heart in the mist of chaos. Last semester I began taking day trips to this orphanage that is run by two amazing people, Connie and Tyler. Connie and Tyler rescue children from the red light district of Tijuana from physical, mental, sexual and emotional abuse. Through these trips and conversations I began to fall in love with what God is doing through the orphanage. I have fallen in love with the children, the relationships that are forming, the laughter and the smiles. I have slowly but surely fallen in love with this place. We serve through playing with the children, loving them, and showing them the love of Christ in any way that we can.
This summer a small group of us have been taking trips to this orphanage. When we are there we do all sorts of different things but more importantly we do our best to love the children in their need, and we rely on the Lord to allow us to do this. Through these trips we have developed relationships with the children and the owners of the orphanage. We have also seen God move in amazing ways.
The children, all 60 of them, start school on August 24th. It has been on our hearts to help the children as well as Connie and Tyler to help provide school supplies for the children. We would like to deliver them on August 29th, a week after their first day. The supplies that they need are as follows: 6 composition notebooks each, this will allow them to have one for each class (360 total), hand held pencil sharpeners, red, blue and black pens, and sets of rulers, triangles and compasses.
