Meet Olivia....

Her story....

On February 7th 2019 what was thought to be just another normal busy day turned into news a family never wants to hear.  Olivia was running a fever and was taken to the doctor by her mom totally expecting to find out she had the flu or strep throat again.  The doctor confirmed Olivia did indeed have strep throat however her blood counts were also very low and they wanted to check her again the following day.  The doctors thought maybe it was the strep that lowered her counts but were still concerned and wanted to double check things.  The next day Olivia went back to the doctor and her counts were even lower.  They ran more tests and more blood was taken along with chest x-rays and then a call was made to UNC Children’s Hospital.  By 9:00 that night, February 8th, Olivia was admitted to UNC and the family received the words no parent ever wants to hear….”Your child has CANCER” and was soon diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL).  Olivia also has Down Syndrome and her Leukemia treatment plan is a little different than most children diagnosed with Leukemia.  Olivia has spent most every day in the hospital from February 8th until the end of June.  During July and August she has been in the hospital every other weekend and as of Friday August 16th will be returning for 8 continuous weeks.  As you can only imagine the expenses continue to grow for the parents including  time away from work, juggling their time between three children,  travel expenses to and from the hospital, home and work, medications and continuous  other unexpected expenses can be a huge burden on a family.   Will you please join me in supporting Olivia’s family on their journey as they FIGHT and WIN against Leukemia?  Please search your heart, and take a moment to imagine what the family is facing, donate to them but more importantly PRAY for them because with God all things are possible!   Matthew 19:26

Olivia is 11 years old and attends Coats Elementary School in Coats, North Carolina.  She is the daughter of Charlie Bullock and Gina Bullock.   When able, Olivia enjoys spending time at home playing and drawing on her Etch A Sketch and spending time with her two brothers.
