Help Candy's costs
I've had candy for 6 years and she has taught me everything I know about riding. Two years ago she took me to the North American Junior Young Rider Championships and won a team gold medal. She has taken me farther than I ever thought possible; she owes me nothing, but I owe her everything. I love her more than words can describe and a life without her is not one I want to imagine. Insurance only covers $8,000 and I don't have the funds to cover the remaining costs. Please help give Candy a fighting chance. Anything will help and mean more to me then you will ever know...
Unfortunately the bill ended up being a lot more than expected do to complications and the 3 week long stay in the ICU. We are still accepting any donations that will help off set this cost. Candys a fighter and with everyone that has been so supportive and generous during this time has helped give her a fighting chance, and that means more to me than anyone could imagine!
After spending just over 3 weeks in the hospital Candy came home today!!!!! We still have a long and scary road ahead of us but we're over the worst part. The staff at San Luis Rey Equine Hospital have been phenomenal!! I've been so overwhelmed by everyone who has been so supportive and generous,
I have the most amazing friends and support group. I love this animal more than words can even begin to describe, Dr. Korin Potenza and Dr. Nick Huggons have been added to my list of Hero's. They've done absolutely everything in their power to save my best friend. Thanks Hawley for always being there for anything!!!
Quick Up Date 3/2/14 - am call from vet states that Candy did ok thru the night, is alert, but by no means, out of the woods. She is still experiencing a high heat rate and 'refluxing' quite a bit still. Heading out to visit her this afternoon and will update everyone later. Your generosity has been so amazing - we thank you so very much
Healing thoughts all around!
An emotional day - we thank all of you for your heartfelt love and support. Candy came out of surgery late this afternoon and is now recovering in a ICU stall at San Luis Rey Equine Hospital in the capable hands of the surgical team there. Now time will tell how she does over the next few days.
