S Margery Dr Flood Devistation

The creek on the street of S Margery dr in O’Hara, Pittsburgh, PA over flowed and flooded every house on the street. It turned the entire street into a river!!! Doors and windows were busted open and houses flooded and belongings, photos, and memories scattered and destroyed. Many residents didn’t know if their house would be swept away or not as everyone was trapped in their homes. One resident with a 3 month old and another with 3 under 3 years old and one being 3 weeks old, lost many items and will require repairs to A/C, heat, water, and other utilities. Tony at 211 S Margery was in the basement attempting to save his 3 week old daughter’s belongings, other items and turn off the power when the doors busted open and spilling water and debris into his home. A truck tire he had outside rushed in and he was able to jump on top of it and the neighbors were able to come to his aid and rescue him. Alex of 210 S Margery was at work when his mom called him with that tone of voice when you know you must immediately rush home, he swam through rushing water to get home and help his family save as much as they could and make sure everyone is safe. Fire crews were here until 4 AM pumping water away and clean up started at 8 AM the next morning. Some had inches of mud in their homes and some houses were deemed unlivable because of damaged gas, water, and damage. Nobody knew what would happen or if we’d even see tomorrow, but we feel lucky everyone is safe and now we need help with repairs. 12 residents are effected and 80% of the street’s residents have been living here for 19+ years and have never had devistation like this. We are a very close knit community and a big family. We need help to repair and restore homes and would even accept a helping hand to assist in cleaning efforts.
