Treatment and Support for Gloria and Josh

$42,092 of $100,000 goal

On May 14th, my sister Gloria traveled to Prince George, British Colombia from Alaska, to visit friends and family before her sweet baby arrived.  She was eight months pregnant and had planned on returning back home to Alaska to deliver her baby. On Friday (May 24th) Gloria was at her baby shower when she began to feel sick and have a really bad migraine. Her friends brought her to the emergency room and they immediately admitted her the hospital, and was told she had preeclampsia. Over the next few days they tried to stabilize her blood pressure but  things took a turn for the worst and on Monday May 27th, she had to have an emergency c-section. My nephew Jack Wolf was born at 4:30pm weighing 4lbs 13oz but he was not well. And to make matters worse, her husband Joshua, was in the middle of his flight to Prince George when their son was born.

Throughout the evening, the doctors and nurses at Prince Georges Hospital did everything they could to keep the baby alive and in stable condition but they decided he had the best chance of survival if he was airlifted to the Children's Hospital in Vancouver. That evening baby Jack Wolf was airlifted to Vancouver, where his father Josh was awaiting his arrival. Josh was immediately by his side and spent the whole night holding his tiny hand. The next morning, Gloria was also airlifted to Vancouver so they could all be together as a family. However, all of the specialists, doctors and nurses were not able to save my nephew. On May 28th he was taken off life support and passed away in my sister's arms, with her husband by her side. We were all devastated by the news of his passing and never could have expected that the situation would soon become worse.

After my nephew passed away, Gloria's condition began to worsen and she had to be transferred to yet another hospital (since the Children's Hospital was not equipped to deal with adults). Her family was advised of her deteriorating condition and were immediately flown to St. Paul's hospital in Vancouver to be by her side, as the doctors did not expect her to pull through. Gloria's condition has stabilized but she is currently on a ventilator in the intensive care unit and fighting for her life.

We have been informed that her MSP (Medical Services Plan) in Canada will not cover the cost of her care (or the care received by her son) - this is due to the fact that she has been a resident of the United States for the past eight years. Unfortunately, her health insurance in the United States will also not cover any of the care she received in Canada.

Gloria and her husband Josh do not need this financial burden on top of everything they have already been through. The medical bills are astronomical and are continuing to grow.  We are asking for any donations to help them cover the bills from this horrible tragedy. My sister is the sweetest, kindest person and she did not deserve any of this. We are asking for any help you are able to give - any donation, of any amount helps. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart!

Our family would like to personally thank everyone who has donated and shared this story. The amount of love and support we have received is just incredible and has made a very hard time a bit more bearable for all of us. As of tonight Gloria is still in the ICU but has had the ventilator removed and is breathing on her own. She is still not able to speak but is communicating through writing on a notepad. Gloria is still very very sick and at this point we do not know when she will be released from ICU. All these things are miraculous considering a few days ago we were advised they didn’t think Gloria was going to make it. I feel all the prayers and positivity have helped immensely. Gloria and her husband Josh have a long journey of healing to embark on once my sister is released. But they have a loving family rallying around them as well as many amazing friends. We did not get through this last week alone so thank you guys for everything you have done to help Gloria and Josh be able to relieve some of the burden they will be facing with expenses due to this unbelievable tragedy. Thank you so very much.

New Update— The last 2 days have been amazing. Gloria has come off the ventilator and went from communicating through a notepad to being able to speak. She is slowly learning to swallow again and walk. This is an enormous step considering a few days ago she was on the ventilator and not conscious. Earlier today Gloria had time to read through some of the go fund me comments and was brought to tears by peoples words of support and kindness. As I said before you guys have really helped during such a difficult time. As of tonight Gloria is still in ICU but is on the road to recovery. The coming weeks are going to be difficult as we grieve our nephew son and grandson Jack Wolf. But we will find strength in the healing. Thank you all sooo much for the help and support you have given Gloria and Josh. The go fund me will stay open as it is meant to help offset the medical costs and expenses they will be facing. So please feel free to keep sharing and donating as the journey is not over yet but we hope very soon Again thank you alll so much.

New update- I talked to my sister this morning they have moved her to a new room at St. Paul’s and she is no longer in ICU but she is still sick and is not able to be discharged. It is very hard to be back away from her but she has her loving friend their by her side. The donations have been nothing short of amazing you guys really pulled though for Josh and Gloria. I have spoke with a local mla and there is currently nothing they can do to offset any medical costs at this point. Gloria and Josh are still in need of donations as medical bills can run 100,000 or more especially with Gloria needing the constant care in icu all the medications and tests they ran as well. Gloria and baby were also airlifted to Vancouver. Anything helps even 5.00 or a share on the post. We can’t even put into words how much you guys have done so far we love you all and have been reading the comments and donations and we are blown away. So thank everyone of you from the bottom of our hearts
