Victims of Greedy Landlords

Hello my name is Jerett. I am married and I am a father of one awesome child which I have the privilege of calling my daughter. This is my situation: my family and I became homeless about 5 years ago due to some bad choices and a little bad luck. We ended up at a place called The Crossing which is a sober transitional housing program sponsored by The Denver Rescue Mission. We were there for 2 years. After we graduated the program we had a hard time finding a place and ended up in an amazing short term homeless place called Family Promise. After 2 months there, with their assistance, we finally found an apartment and have been here for about 2 years.

The property was bought in January by a different company. We have been month to month with them since then and at the end of June we were told to move out by July 31st because they want to remodel our unit. They are displacing 2 families every month in order to remodel all the units by 2019. That brings us to now. We are having a very hard time finding a new place with skyrocketing rent and low vacancies. Not to mention that it was extremely difficult to find this place to begin with much less competing against people who don't have the past that we've had.

We are becoming homeless again and turning our daughters life upside down, again, after finally getting stable. My wife and I both work full time and we struggle everyday because we supposedly make too much to qualify for any housing assistance yet we barely get by paying the obscene rents that greedy landlords are asking for. So this is what I'm asking. If you share our story, some helpful people might see it and be willing to help us some way. We need traveling funds as we are moving to Gunnison to start a new life. We need a trailer hitch for our car and settling in funds until we get paid again on August 10th. Thank you for your time and we hope all is well in your lives
