Scott (Scotty) Akins is an extremely amazing, strong, active 17 year old young man. On Friday, September 22nd he was playing in his high school football game. At some point in the game he took a hit. This hit left him disoriented and he passed out. Scott was then taken to the emergency room in Texarkana where he had emergency surgery due to a severe brain bleed. Immediately after surgery he was airlifted to Children's in Little Rock. Scott remained in a medically induced coma for a week. Since they started reducing his sedation he started experiencing "storms ", he has developed pneumonia and has spiked fevers that at times have been hard to get under control. We are all praying and waiting for Scott to wake up.
We are overwhelmed by the prayers, love and support everyone has shown during this time. We are asking for help for his family as you can imagine the hospital bills and recovery are going to take their toll. Please share even if you can not give. Most importantly please keep Scott and his family in your prayers.
This is what the Lord says. "I have heard your prayer and I will heal you." 2 Kings 20:5

Scott is now on the rehab floor and doing great. He is getting stronger every day. He is talking some but we are still waiting for his voice to get stronger. He will be having his bone flap replacement surgery and a bacflocen pump surgery soon before he is released to come home. We are expecting him to be release in 3-4 weeks. With that being said the family is now in a rush to find and purchase a handicap van. If you donate to help the family make this huge purchase that would be fantastic. Thank you all for your love and support.

I want to share a few updates. Scott has gotten stronger and stronger and never ceases to amaze any of us.
He had a wonderful Thanksgiving with his family. He did however run into some issues in December. He woke up vomiting one morning and they found out that he had developed sepsis. After a very brief stay in ICU he was free of the infection and returned to his room. They had some complications with his gtube and it caused some fluid build up in his stomach. They found the problem corrected the tube and drained his stomach. Scott started doing well again.
He had a wonderful Christmas!!!! Now for the BEST news! On December 28th Scott spoke his first words since the accident on September 22nd. Scott is talking more and more each day. He has been accepted for rehab. Praise God!!!! He has also been doing physical therapy. Yesterday our boy worked out in a gym setting. He was able to do chest presses and even counted them down. God is amazing and He is doing amazing things in Scott's life. Please continue to pray, share and give.

Much love from TeamScott.

Updates from Thursday 10/26.
At 9:54am Emillia, his mom posted.
Scott has been storming almost constant for over an hour, his heart rate reaches the 180's, fever of 105, breathing extremely fast and hard. He developed a blood clot in his arm on Tuesday. Thankfully it was in the veins that carry blood away from the hear. They started giving him meds and blood thinners. His arm was looking better than yesterday but is looking worse.

Thurs 10/24 @ 12:27
Fever is down to 101.4. Test on his arm came back the the blood clot has resolved itself. They are worried about another infection so they have started him on more antibiotics in addition to what he has already been taking. He's alot calmer but still mildly agitated. they had to put him back on the vent to help breathing during all of the his storming.

Please continue to pray for his recovery.
