Jaylea's Medical Bills
This past Friday Feb 21st, Jason drove Jaylea's other siblings (Taylor, Gibson, Trinity & Parker) back home to Levittown, PA (which will be taken care by family) while Leah stayed with Jaylea. He will be flying back down on Monday Feb 24th (1:15pm flight) to be with them and are staying at the local Ronald McDonald House. Jaylea will be having another procedure done today (Monday Feb 24th) to extract more fluids out of her lungs.
Since Jason is a Youth & Worship Pastor and is currently in a transition period with switching churches, the family's reserve finances are taking a very, very serious hit with these unexpected expenses (rental van to drive kids back home, airfare to fly back down, hospital deductables, co-insurance, etc.). They do have health insurance from their previous church up through the end of this year, which is an extreme blessing, but the health insurance will only cover so much. We know that setting a goal is extremely difficult and the total amount of bills could easly surpass the goal amount set and may need to be changed. We have also decided that any money leftover from paying her medical bills, will be put into a fund down at the "Florida Hosptial for Children" for other families who find themselves in a similar situation.
If you would like to help them financially, please feel free to donate. All money will be going to the Heim family. We also ask that you please continue to pray for Jaylea to get better quickly, for peace for Jason & Leah and for continued good health for the other four children. Thank you for all you can give.

PS...Update... As of March 13th, Jaylea was released and is doing much better. She and her parents are looking forward to coming home. They will be taking the Amtrak Auto Train to help minimize any stress to her little body and her parents that a 20 some hour drive would be all the way up I95. They will be coming into the area on Sunday around 3ish where they will be transferred to one of Newportville Fire Company trucks and will lead a mini parade of fire appartus from all over the area as well as a local classic car group and firefighter motorcycle club. They will make their way over to their house in the Red Cedar section of Levittown, PA. We wanted to show Jaylea and her parents that we are all glad to have them back home. She will still need to have breathing treatments and therapy, but it's all looking up:)
We wanted to continue to let everyone know that they are so very thankful to the local Ronald McDonald House and their hospitality. They are truly gratefull for everyone's giving and are very hopefull that there will be money leftover after paying her bills to "pay it forward" to the Ronald McDonald House as well as the family with the very sick 2 month old baby boy in the neighbouring room. We hope and pray for continued wellness for Jaylea and look forward to the day when she is back to running around like any child back at their home with the rest of the family.

Here is an update Leah texted over at the end of April...
"Last week she started playing house with Trin. She has played more frequently and has shown improvement at physical therapy. She can do more squats and more situps than she could last week. We see her pediatrician on Friday for continued follow up care. Her fever is finally gone, but she continues to have night sweats...which at this point, is thought to be her body trying to regulate itself back to normal. She is still done in around 3 each day and she mostly good about sitting and resting. Unfortunately, it's at this time of day that our sweet tenderhearted girl turns grumpy and bossy :) I have to remind myself that's it's not deliberate defiance. I am excited to see her progress to being healthy and strong."
Here is an update she just texted over today...
"Jaylea update. She just saw the lung specialist this morning. Her X-ray shows still a partial pleural effusion (collapsed lung) in he lower left lung. But her breathing rest showed a significant improvement. Her abscess is still draining and if it is just the internal stitch that's causing the body to reject it then it should go away without anymore complication. 6wks ago her lung was working at 70% and today the Dr says she's at 85%. Great news :)"
Hopefully one of us will do a better job at getting out these updates:)
"Jaylea had a doctor's appointment today and the doctor said that her lungs sound good. They are not perfect yet, but improving. She has an abscess on her side where the drainage port was located, so she is seeing a surgeon on Monday to see if that will heal up on its own or if they need to drain it. Then on Friday she is seeing a respiratory specialist from CHOP to make sure everything is healing as it should. Finally, we are making an appointment with a physical therapist to follow up with Jaylea concerning her motor skills. So she is doing much better, but it is a really slow process.
Also, Parker was in the ER this past Monday and was diagnosed with either bronchitis or pneumonia. He is on medication and seems to be doing much better."
Basically, things are going in the right direction for Jaylea and Parker. Please continue to keep the entire family them in your prayers.
Leah sent me over this text..."Her lungs are still in need of treatment. She still has a small pleural effusion (collapsed lung) and she will be seeing the lung specialist for that."
Also, Jaylea is trending in the right direction. She was given the green light to go back to school, but Jason & Leah have decided to ease her into it by only going in a half day (each day) as well as having Leah go with her. This will help her since her muscles are still weak (but getting stronger each day) and she won't have to be rushed from class to class by herself.
One last thing, Jaylea was finally able to see her cousins and Auntie Erika when they come over to visit on Saturday & Sunday. Basically, the Heim's are slowly getting back to normal:)
We'll continue to send out updates...probably once a week or unless something majorly chances.
