Teresa Bayrock: Fight for Her Life & Recovery

Donation protected
In Support of Teresa Bayrock & Her Fight For Her Life: Please support our dear friend Teresa, her husband Rauno, and their 3 children as she fights for her life.

On March 22, 2019 Teresa suddenly became critically ill and she remains in a coma in the Intensive Care Unit. Sadly, her family is in need of assistance as Rauno is splitting his time between the hospital and their 2 young boys. We are hoping to raise enough funds so that the day to day expenses, Teri’s recovery, and the overall stress of losing 1 income can be lessened. Since Teresa is a dance teacher, she is considered an independent contractor and therefore is unable to claim EI or illness benefits. We know this period of recovery will be a slow & difficult journey, so please consider a donation of any kind to help this amazing family over the next few months. All efforts are greatly appreciated. By doing so, this wonderful family can spend their precious time with their amazing mother & wife.

Teresa’s story:
March 22, 2019: What started off as a normal day quickly turned into a devastating medical crisis. Teresa started her day by getting her young sons ready for school. Although she had complained of stomach pain, she was able to continue her daily routine. However things quickly progressed to the point where Teresa could not move and an ambulance was called by her husband, Rauno. No time was wasted and Teresa was rushed to the Grey Nuns Hospital ER, accompanied by Rauno and her young sons, Tym & Jai. Within minutes a scan was done and confirmed that Teresa needed emergency surgery as her colon was perforated…a potentially life threatening medical condition. Teresa kissed her family, told each one of them how much she loved them, and she was rolled to the OR.

The team had no choice but to remove her colon. Her abdomen was so badly infected they kept her incision open, started her on various & aggressive antibiotics, and Teresa was moved to the Intensive Care Unit. The next 12 hours would be critical…Her body was septic (a life-threatening organ dysfunction caused by the infection).

Teresa made it through those 12 hours and shocked her medical team. She defied all odds. This was truly a miracle!!!

The effects of the infection were becoming apparent and Teri slipped into a coma as her body was under attack. Over a course of a week, Teresa has had at 4 surgeries and the team is doing everything they can to protect any further damage to her vital organs & limbs. At present, Teri is on dialysis for her kidneys and as of Saturday, she has a trach (breathing tube in her throat). She remains in critical, but stable condition.

Miss. Teresa is a ballet instructor at the Edmonton Dance Factory & Dance Unlimited. With over 34 years of teaching experience, Miss. Teresa is instrumental in the dance community and loved by so many. She devoted her entire career to her students and developed loving and lasting relationships well beyond those studio doors. Teresa truly has a kind spirit and brings joy to everyone she meets. The dance world misses her dearly and are sending positive thoughts and prayers for her recovery.

Although dance is her passion, there is no denying that for Teresa, Family is Everything! Teresa is the very proud mother of 3 beautiful children and has been blessed with 2 adorable grand-daughters. Her greatest joy is watching them pursue their own passions, and she makes every effort to never miss their events. Beside Teresa at all these events, is her partner in crime, her best friend, her loving husband Rauno. More than anything, Rauno and the children so desperately want Teresa to open her eyes, fully wake-up, and to come home…they miss their mother & Rauno misses his best friend.

Let’s show Teresa the same love and compassion as she has given us over the years. Please share or like this page and together we can reach our goal! Feel free to leave kind words of encouragement and please continue to keep Teresa in your hearts and in your prayers.
