Young Carers You Will Go To The Ball
THE EVENT IS TO BE HELD AT THE NORTH EUSTON HOTEL FLEETWOOD ON THE 1ST OF NOVEMBER. https://www.northeustonhotel.com/ Hi my name is Joanne Quinnell. I'm a mum who became ill 8 years ago with a number of different health conditions. I went from being a strong independent woman to having to depend on my husband and children to help with the daily tasks that needed doing. Our lives changed . No more kayaking. No more weekend excursions. We became socially isolated. I was very worried for my children and wanted to get help so tried to find resources in my area to support Young Carers. Sadly there isn't anything set up for young carers in the Fleetwood, Thornton, Over Wyre and Fylde. I can't do a great deal but i wanted to raise money and awareness so that these young carers can have a Halloween party/ball just to give them some recognition for what they do and let them know that they aren't on their own. THE PLAN - As part of my daily gym routine /therapy I was inspired to try rowing from a challenge that Jordan Wylie set (check him out and support him). It wasn't easy as my balance isn't great and transferring from my wheelchair to the row machine was interesting but with the support of the gym staff and chairs around me to grab on to if I lost my balance I did it ! Then the idea was born to paddle across lake coniston..... crazy right ?! A fantastic charity based in Fleetwood called Outdoor Adventure Group ( where my children used to go kayaking before I became too ill to take them) have said they will support us during this challenge. I can't risk capsizing due to having to use a ventilator so the plan is to have two Canadian canoes lashed together to make them stable . In the canoes are some very special people helping me on this mission and have been helping me throughout the whole process. We hope to do the paddle in June. Will update details of times etc closer to day . Young Carers are often missed yet they are supposed to be looked after by the community. Please let's show them that we care. This is Theo (10) and Denzel (8) and they are my youngest children. Since being little my illness has affected them and they have had to help me out when I've needed it. Regardless of how much I try there are things I can't do myself. They are practising to do the fundraiser too . I'm so proud of them ❤
Not long now. Body aching . Constantly raining in Lancashire at the moment hopefully it won't on the 23rd because that will be miserable.
