Greetings, I am Reverend Joe D. Jamison Sr. I am the Pastor of Pilgrimage Protestant Church, University Park, IL.I am a United Metodist Pastor, and a member of the Northern Illinois Conference, Chicago Southern District. I am a co-founder of the Pilgrimage Protestant Food Pantry.
Our church has a membership of 75 people, to include children.
The Pilgrimage food pantry is funded by our church members. Ocassionaly we receive donations from other sources. In 2013, our food pantry distributed food to 3,995 individuals, which represented over 14,200 family members through December 2013.
Our food pantry partners with the Northern Illinois Food Bank, from which we purchase our food. Our pantry has been in operation for over 6 years, so you can imagine the number of individuals who have entered our facility on a weekly basis.
We have a fledgling "Youthful Offender's" ministry, where we have provided court ordered community service for 14 individuals. We also try to spiritually motivate these individuals to hopefully not enter into the state's penal system.
We need money to purchase a new computer so that we can more accurately keep track of the youth we are helping.My ultimate goal is to be registered with Will County, and the state of Illinois as a full member of community service providers.
Over the years, we have been so focused on ministry, that we have not taken care of our facility as we should have. Our floors have taken a beating, and this unusually harsh winter has taken a terrible toll on our roofs. We now have some bad water leaks. $5000.00 would go a long way towards helping us to achieve our ministry objectives.
