Sometimes simply recognizing the storm allows it to pass.......
My sister DJenane has been an ultrasound technologist for 16 years and she has worked directly with lots of cancer patients. A few week ago DJenane noticed a painful lump in her breast. What are the odds of it being cancer? WELL, biopsy confirmed it to be one of the most aggressive types of breast cancer.
Next week, on December 13th, DJenane will undergo a double mastectomy. The operation will prevent her from working for a few months. It will be a tough road ahead for DJenane, her husband Rodney, and her boys Jamal, AJ, Jordan and Jaden since Rodney has also been in recovery. Last April, Rodney fell off a ladder 24 feet and hit the ground, hard. He suffered several contusions, broke many bones including his shoulder, collar bone, arm and some ribs and has been in recovery and unable to work ever since.
Unfortunatley Rodney's shoulder did not heal correctly and he is still in a lot of pain and unable to lift his arm. Doctors are now saying that he will need surgery to reposition the bone as it did not heal correctly. They have decided to post pone his surgury until DJenane has recovered from her surgery and completed her chemo treatments. Until then, they both will be unable to work.
We are raising funds to help DJenane and her family survive the coming year. Not only will they need assistance with medical bills, but it's important that DJenane be allowed to heal her body and spirit without the additional burden of financial need.
