RFDS & Shipmates For Cancer

The WA Division of the HMAS CANBERRA HMAS SHROPSHIRE Association in partnership with the “Shipmates for Cancer Group” have organised a team to ride in the Gibb River Challenge 2019, which will take place in The Kimberley, over one of Australia’s last frontiers. The ride will commence in Derby on the 19th of May and finish at El Questro Station on 23th May 2019. The ride is conducted over 5 days at a distance of 660km. The “Shipmates for Cancer” riding team will be raising donations for the Royal Flying Doctor Service and Shipmates for Cancer.  The riding team is made up of four RAN veterans.  Money raised for the Shipmates For Cancer Foundation will go towards the research of cancers as well as the care and support of serving and ex members of the Royal Australian Navy and their families who are suffering from this insidious disease. I have seen too many great mates and their families suffer from this disease and what we will endure on the ride, is nothing compared to what these families suffer every day.
