Heather's Battle With Lung Cancer

Donation protected

This GoFundMe is being made for my mother, Heather Freeman. She is a wife, a mother, a daughter, a grandmother, a sister and a friend. But more than anything, she is a great person. She would do anything for anybody and would give her last dollar to help somebody in need. Here's her story: This past summer she began to experience muscle weakness and moments of confusion. After taking a couple of falls she decided it was time to see a doctor. She was diagnosed with late-onset multiple sclerosis. We were devastated to say the very least, but after a few good cry sessions and family meetings, we had all accepted what was happening and decided that we would make the most of every single good day that we had with my mom and not dwell on what was to come. Fast-forward to early December when we all went to the cutest little tree farm to find the perfect Christmas tree. My mom was walking down an icy hill and took a hard fall. The next couple days she began to feel very dizzy and extremely nauseous. She ended up going to Fairview hospital in Wyoming and after doing an MRI to check for the cause of the dizziness, she was transferred by ambulance to the U of M hospital in Minneapolis. It was here that she received the scariest news of her life. She had been diagnosed with stage 4 small-cell lung cancer. Not only was the cancer in her lungs, but it had also metastasized to her liver and her brain. This is a very aggressive and rare form of lung cancer with a life expectancy of about 15 months. With that being said, my mom is a fighter! She is the strongest, bravest, most caring woman that I have ever met, and if there is anyone out there that can fight this, it is her! The results of her radiation and chemo treatments have already proven that, with shrinkage in both the cancer in her brain and throughout the rest of her body, which is much more than the doctors were expecting. Even with the amount of strength that this amazing woman possesses, the treatments and cancer is taking it's tole on her. She has not been able to work since early December, and as hard as it is for all of us to admit, her and my father have been struggling financially. My father has been working six days a week, extra long shifts, just to get by, but it's still not enough. They are falling behind on bills and all the the extra stress is not good for either of them during this time. My hope is to raise a little extra cash for them so that they can stop stressing so much and get back to enjoying each other and this beautiful life that they have built together. Thank you for for taking the time to read her story, and thank you for any help you can give. God bless!
