Gypsy Masters Fund

Gypsy Masters was heading out on a sailing trip on her birthday, that turned drastically wrong. As she was checking the packing box to the prop-shaft. While avoiding a crab pod the boat bounced to the side causing her to fall in to the floor hatch. She tried to catch herself. Resulting in a shattered hand. Her hair then became tangled in the nut on the shaft spinging at 1500 rpms. The thrust from this was in seconds. Her face was slammed in the the floor, breaking her nose and cheek bone and lacerating her skin across her one eye brow then down to the other eyelid. At this point the shaft has pulled her head all the way down and her hair wrapped around the shaft. She was violently thrown around. So that the nut was now beating at the back of her scull and chewing up the scalp all the way to the bone. At that very moment Mrs. Gypsy felt the rip across the front of her face and her scalp being ripped off. It was then she was finally able to get herself out of the hole.
Had her scalp not ripped off she would have been pulled down into the small hole & her entire head would have been crashed. So very thankful that did not happen.

She is a single mother, still raising her youngest daughter, who is 15. On their 41’’ Morgan OI sailboat. They had been planing on cruising extensively . They stopped in Boot Key Harbour to meet other cruiser and get thing done to the boat. They were taking off on a shake down. They are now living out of hospitals and struggling to put their lives back together. The prognosis is uncertain at this time. It is difficult to come up with a number for what will be needed. This figure reflects current needs as best they can be evaluated at this time.

I love my momma. She is raising me & I need her.
The doctors were afraid Momma would have brain damage. So far we do not see any. So thankful she can walk & talk & mostly take care of herself.
