The Mincks Faith Journey Thru Cancer

Donation protected
Many of us know Brock and Erica whether it be thru church, work, gymnastics or friendship. We also know they are great people of faith and fortitude during difficult times. In the fall of 2016, Erica was diagnosed with a spindle cell sarcoma tumor in the roof of her mouth that was discovered by a routine dental exam. Upon meeting with doctors and having scans/biopsies done, they had determined it was inconclusive/negative regarding whether or not it was cancerous at the time. Due to this, they decided to look for natural pathways to healing. After years of treatment, countless trips to Springfield and much prayer, the tumor had unfortunately grown. They decided around Christmas of 2018 to seek further medical advice so they could make a decision on what to do next. Upon the advice of all of the doctors, they decided that the removal of the tumor was the best decision. Erica underwent a surgery that took 55% of her palate, 10 of her upper teeth and her entire right side of her jawbone. Due to this, they created a prosthetic mouth piece for her to wear for the rest of her life in order to cosmetically and medically compensate for what they had to remove. Today, March 12th, they went back to the doctor to receive news that was completely unexpected. After they biopsied the bone and tumor that they removed, they have discovered it was indeed a malignant cancerous tumor causing them to have to schedule another surgery to remove more palate to stay on the safe side of things. With all of this comes great medical expense along with multiple things insurance won’t cover, such as the prosthetic mouthpiece, loss of work, coinsurance, deductibles, meals out, and babysitting needed. I know many of us love this couple both near and far and many I’m sure are wondering how to help. As a body of believers and friends, let’s walk alongside them and ease the burden and stress of what nobody expects to walk thru at such a young age and help with #1 praying for them but also ease the financial burden they are facing with costs associated with cancer. They are believing for a full recovery. We are believing! Nobody knows what this journey will look like but let’s all join together to be a part of blessing them as they are a blessing to all of us. Their strength, faith, positive attitude, and perseverance are nothing short of admirable and inspiring. Keep them in your prayers and thank you for giving!
