PLEASE HELP BEST SINGLE MOM EVER IN HER FIGHT AGAINST LEUKEMIA On January 10th, 2019 our dear friend Maria Villasenor received devastating news  that she was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Maria was getting her annual physical at her doctor's office including her blood work. When the result came back, Maria’s doctor instructed her to go straight to the emergency room. After she arrived at the hospital the results from the blood work revealed heart wrenching news….that of cancer.  Within minutes she was admitted to the hospital with a plan being formulated to address this serious situation. Oh how life changes so quickly! What seemed to start off as a ordinary day headed to work was halted with this new information. The plan was to start chemo as quickly as possible to get ahead of this disease. However, it was soon discovered the disease was ahead of Maria. Now faced with many decision about healthcare and how to provide for her family’s needs, this 53 year old single mother was facing what seems like insurmountable challenges. She has been providing for herself and her two beautiful girls for so long, now what? She has been working for American Airlines for 32 and ½ years as a flight attendant.  Dedication and loyalty are certainly 2 qualities she possesses. The game plan has now begun. Chemo was started on Jan 12th, 2019 and is continuing. As of right now she is receiving her 3rd round of chemo with the goal of 8 sessions in total. Each session includes her being hospitalized for a minimum of 2 weeks. In and out of the cancer treatment center every other day. She spends the time in isolation because of possible complications. Doctors are still discussing how much more chemo will be needed after the 8 sessions or if a different style of treatment would be advantageous. The future is uncertain concerning work and financial obligations that most any family has . And the same holds true for Maria and her girls.   Maria has been blessed with her oldest daughter, 21 years old, putting her education on hold to take care of her mom full-time. And the 2nd daughter, 19 years old, is being extremely responsible in doing what she can to work and help the family situation. With that being said, the mounting cost of treatment and the stress of deductible and coinsurance responsibilities adds to the worry of this mother, in caring not only for herself but for the girls. We really want to help contribute to the ongoing medical care and cost for many future months, and we would like to relieve some of this burden for her so she can focus on healing. We do know for a certainty that Maria will be unable to return to work for a minimum of 2 years . We implore your generous spirit in helping this hard working, loving family. Please consider ANY donation to help Maria in this difficult time of need or share this page to help them.
