Last week after the big snowstorm, I brought Randy into the emergency room with severe upper abdomen pain that caused shortness of breath. We spent 7 hours there, and after tests, ct scan, ultrasound and xray, they determined that he had cancerous lesions on his liver and colon mass, also a blood clot in his main liver portal vein. This was nothing we expected, he had never had pain before, so we were both quite dazed and shocked.
The next day I stared giving him the recommended shots of blood thinner twice a day to treat the blood clot. We then had a primary doctor visit, and then referred to have a liver biopsy. This past Friday we met with oncology and they confirmed that he has inoperable stage 4 colon cancer, which has spread to his liver, also the abdominals wall, and possibly lymph nodes.
Our next course of action is Monday where he will have a permanent portacath placed and begin a 3 month series of chemotherapy. Of course because it is not curable, this will now be an ongoing thing.
We want to remain positive and happy going forward, we were just married this past august and want to continue our happiness with family and friends.
