Kris Hocevar Olson Support Fund

Kris Hocevar Olson is married to Gary Olson and lives in Duluth Minnesota, along with their two dogs Shilo and Ruby. On June 14th of 2016 she was diagnosed with stage 3 cervical cancer. After extensive lab pathology work and additional testing they determined that that was not an accurate diagnosis. She then spent 12 days at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota for additional testing. There they diagnosed her with incurable stage 4 colon cancer, to the best of their knowlegde. They then returned back home to Duluth and started chemotherapy treatments. After three rounds of strong chemotherapy her oncologist in Duluth was not comfortable not truely knowing exactly what type of cancer they were fighting, so they decided to perform a debulking surgery. The operation was  completed in October of 2017. The pathology from this surgery showed that she truely had stage 4 appendix cancer. At this time chemotherapy was determined to not be effective for her type of cancer. All along the cancer behaved abnormally and advanced very slowly. In October of 2018 her bowels became blocked from the cancer spreading into the mesentery region of her colon. Since late October of 2018 she has been in and out of the hospital,  never being home for more than a day or two at a time, all the while enduring numerous procedures to try to manage her advancing condition. The cancer has now advanced to the point of needing hospice and around the clock care to best manage her illness. Throughout this very difficult time Kris and Gary have been at each other's side every step of the way. Due to her illness and treatment, Kris has been unable to continue working. Gary has also taken a large amount of time off from work to care for Kris. Any donations would greatly assist and ease their burden in this trying time.
