Help Adana

***Adana has been found to have a 6/6 heart murmur with turbulence, and urgently needs to see a specialist vet cardiologist for a diagnosis and prognosis. We cannot afford this appointment without your support**

We saved Adana from a rural country pound as a heavily pregnant 7-8mth old kitten. She soon gave birth to four groups little bubs and she leant on her foster carers for support and guidance as a first time young mum. As her bubs grew, it was obvious she just wanted to go back to being a kitten herself plying with toys and being the centre of attention. Fast forward 10wks and her bubs are finding new homes and we went to have her desexed so she could find her new home too.

Unfortunately in the health checkup pre-op, the vet found a very, very nasty surprise. He said Adana has a grade 6 out of 6 heart murmur, with turbulence. He explained a grade 6 is the worst and that this is a very poor prognosis. The vet further explained the options and where to from here.

Option 1 - spay her that day, but she likely wouldn’t make the procedure without knowing what exactly is wrong.
Option 2 - accept that she is probably not good and put her to sleep without a diagnosis and prognosis.
Option 3 - see a specialist vet cardiologist for a proper diagnosis, options for treatment if available, and a prognosis with and without treatment.

We chose to go with option 3 and have made a tentative specialist vet cardiologist appointment. They advise this will involve a consultation fee of $220, an ECG to trace the heart, and an echocardiogram which is an ultrasound of the heart.

We have been told that for this appointment, costs will start at $1,000. For this reason we need at least $1k to be able to find out what’s wrong with our special little girl.

There may not be anything that can be done to save Adana, but if so then at least we will find out how much time she may have and when is right to put her to sleep. She has so much life left in her, she’s one of the most affectionate chatty kittens we’ve had in our care.

We really need to know what her diagnosis and prognosis is instead of just putting her to sleep. Please, please donate to help us find out Adanas diagnosis and prognosis.

Donations over $2 are tax deductible - just email us at [email redacted] requesting a receipt.

Thank you - we will keep everyone updated once we have the money and see the specialist vet.
