Hako Women's Resource Centre, PNG

Donation protected
The Hako Women’s Collective, working in the north of Buka Island, northern Bougainville (Papua New Guinea), is in urgent need of money to pay for work done on the new Resource Centre (in Ngalkobul Village) and some other immediate expenses.

This group has been doing wonderful work as a grass roots organisation working on critical issues for post-conflict Bougainville, including sustainable development, food security, justice, education and training, and women’s health and safety. HWC receives grants from Autonomous Bougainville Government and international organisations for specific programs. Hako Women’s Collective is run by volunteers, and is working towards covering its running costs through small business enterprises (which also provide training opportunities).

The Resource Centre will provide a base for HWC at which it will have a dedicated office space and a small library, hold meetings and training sessions, and deliver community services such as a safe house for women escaping domestic violence (Meri Seif Ples). Completing the work on the Resource Centre is essential to be able to establish new projects and enterprises. For more information about HWC, see their  website www.hakowomen.org ‌ ‌

The women of HWC are resourceful and able to make any money go a long way. If you are able to make any donation, however small, they will greatly appreciate it and it will certainly make a difference.
