Help My Sweet Little Grim

Here is my baby, sleeping peacefully on my lap. He is 6 months old and brand new to my family. I brought him home only two weeks ago. Grim was very slow to warm, hiding a lot until he became accustomed to my house and my roommates, and now we are inseparable. He spends every night curled up in my chest and purring us both to sleep. Since bringing Grim into my life I have noticed a huge improvement in my mental health, and he has motivated me to take better care of myself as I care for him. He has been happy and playful until an unpredictable accident. 

My heart is breaking for my baby who has been in a lot of pain since last night. Grim knocked over a mug and cut himself incredibly deep on it, tearing through muscle and severing a tendon in the process. I rushed him to a 24 hour vet clinic and racked up a $400 bill for medication and bandaging alone. Today, I took him to a vet clinic and they told me they did not have time to do a surgery today, but that it would cost between $1500-2000. I broke down in the clinic, knowing well that I don't have the funds to cover his recovery right now. I have to take him in for surgery within the next day or two or things will get significantly worse.

The visit today cost another $130, which brings me up to $530 not including surgery. 

I am at my wits end and don't know what to do.


I am a fourth year University student who can barely afford rent month to month, and this accident really caught me off guard. I am studying media production at Ryerson, and I would be happy to offer anyone video editiong/photoshop in exchange for donations. 

I'm asking for help because not only have I used all of my emergency funds for him, I've also had to set aside money that is supposed to go towards my groceries and rent for the month.
