Carissa is my best friend, and she also happens to be my first cousin. I am honored to start this IVF fundraiser for her and her husband, Mo Pututau.

Carissa  &  Mo  have  been  married  over  7  years  and  had  multiple  miscarriages  and  2  ectopic  pregnancies that nearly killed her each time. They have $5,000 out of the $15,000 that will be needed to start IVF. Donating can help reach their goal of growing their family through IVF. If you're unable to donate, please share their story--it can help others  in  similar  situations  know  they  are  not  alone!

Thank  you!

Prior to starting IVF, my bestie Keakz & I made an arrangement that she would do the updates for me because I assumed there would be moments where it would be too difficult for me to update everyone (which proved to be true). She’s been so nice to keep up with it, but for this update—I felt I needed to write it. An unexpected feeling because this is the most difficult update to write. But a wise woman once told me, “the way to heal your heart is through your hands.”

Pregnancy result: Negative.

We’re not pregnant. Our doctor called us with the news, and as he spoke—the words were going through my ears, but there was a delay in my mind processing the information. I could hear what he was saying, but it didn’t make sense. It didn’t seem real. Once my mind began processing the information, it didn’t take long for the rest of my body to get the message. I started crying.

It’s painful.

I included this short video with this update because it better explains how I feel. It relates perfectly to our current situation. There’s no doubt that Moana & I did EVERYTHING we could to make it “work.” There is nothing more we could’ve done. This is OUT OF OUR CONTROL, and sometimes that’s a hard reality to accept. Sometimes life just sucks. I am a believer in sucky times. Lol. I am a believer in sucky times because without it—I couldn’t be a firm believer in the happy times. There must be opposition in all things.

So tonight, I just have to say it—it sucks.

We’ve been cut down.

But just as the video states, we know who the gardener is & he knows what he wants us to be.

Going forward, Moana & I will continue working with our fertility doctor. In the same call, our doctor offered hope and suggestions on different things we will look into. We do have 4 frozen embryos so we will be doing a frozen IVF transfer in the future.

Of course we will first allow ourselves to deal with the current situation, but then we will pick ourselves back up & move forward.

Thank you again for all the love, support, and well wishes through this whole journey.

With love & gratitude,

Moana & Carissa

Carissa and Moana’s embryologist confirmed that they were able to freeze all of the remaining embryos. Carissa is doing well and showing signs of pregnancy. They will continue to wait until March 1st to confirm it with blood work.

Carissa and Moana would like to thank you all for your continued generosity, prayers/fasting, and support on their behalf.

All 6 embryos survived! Carissa and Moana had their embryo transfer this morning. The original plan was to put in 2 embryos. However, chances of survival were low and doctors told them if they put in 3 there was a 3% survival of having triplets. So by doing this, this would increase their odds of having twins. The remaining 3 embryos are being closet monitored by their embryologist. By Thursday, they will call them to update Carissa and Moana on their survival. They will freeze the remaining embryos for future IVF. Carissa is on bed rest for 2 days and then on March 1st they will go in for blood work to see if they’re still pregnant.

Thank you all for your prayer, love and support!

After the first 24 hours 6 were able to survive the fertilization process. The remaining embryos will continue to be monitored. As mentioned before, each stage can include embryo loss. The hope is that the current embryos continue to develop. Embryo transfer will be on Sunday 8AM. Please keep the Pututaus in your prayers.

Thank you all.
