Basiru Touray's University Tuition

Hello! My name is Mallory, and I have promised to help my friend Basiru raise funds for his university tuition. As a Peace Corps Volunteer, I lived in a rural village in The Gambia, West Africa called Kerr Ardo for over two years. While living in this quaint little community, I had the privilege of meeting so many caring, generous people. Almost immediately into my service, I recognized Basiru Touray as one of these individuals. He was an extremely supportive teacher, counterpart, and friend. Basiru consistently helped me navigate the local culture, language, and social norms. Now I would love to be able to repay him for his patience and hard work.



Basiru has supplied a letter describing himself and asking for assistance. Please take a moment to read his letter and help this young man complete the last year of his university education and realize his dream:

"I am Basiru Touray. I am 28 years old Gambian, who was born in a small village called Kerr Ardo down in the country side which is about 60 kilometers from the capital Banjul.



I am in my final year at the University of the Gambia. After my fifth semester of study, these are my academic scores 18 As, 7 Bs, 1 C and 1 D. Being raised in a poor rural community whose main economic activity is subsistence agriculture, I cannot fund a university tuition.



I am studying Development Studies, hence i have a long term dream of becoming a community development worker. Thus, help initiate community development projects that can enhance rural development and sustainability of support projects and programs.

The tuition for each semester amounts at D14,250, which would be around $365 per semester. The total would be D28,500 in dollar it will be $730. For books i need them too but what is more important is tuition. Therefore, I look forward your usual support as soon as possible.
