Jessica's Road to Recovery

Donation protected
On Monday April 8th, 2019 my sister ,Jessica Yeakey, was involved in a terrible accident while riding her motorcycle.  What was going to be a quick ride around the block to go practice riding at the church has changed her life forever.   A man free on bond for an operating while intoxicated charge crashed into her while once again intoxicated.  She was airlifted to South Bend Memorial hospital where she went in for immediate surgery.  Her injuries included broken femurs in both legs (left leg was compound and left huge gash in her thigh), broken left fibula (which also left huge gash in leg), fracture below the knee, fractured hip joint, shifted pelvis, laceration below the neck requiring stitches,  no movement of left arm (which just recently showed 2 fractures to wrist) and sprained ligament and not to mention MANY bruises and swelling all over her entire body!  She has had 3 surgeries to date to place rods and screws in both legs and correcting the pelvis/hips.  She has been going through intense therapy to learn how to walk again as well as learn how to bathe, get dressed, sit down and go up small steps.  Things we all take for granted.  She has continued to amaze everyone with her strong will, motivation and determination.  The progress she has made just the last 3 weeks is incredible!  Even with all the progress made it is still going to be awhile before Jessica can work again.  Her job at Truffles Pastry shop requires a lot of standing and walking.  Her customers love and miss her!!  While not working she is still going to have her monthly expenses on top of medical expenses as well as caring for her two babies (dachshunds Slim Jim and Oakley).  She has a love for animals and volunteers her time with the Animal Control Department.  She is not only a daughter, sister, and friend but an all out loving and wonderful person.  She has a long road ahead of her and a lot of healing to do as well as a lot of physical therapy to get her body back to as close to as before the accident.  I'm hoping that others can help her out along this journey and ease her mind.  One less thing she needs to worry about.
