Surgery for Foxie

Donation protected
My name is Kathrin and I am a student at UCSB. I rescued my little dog Foxie a little over a year ago. She was abandoned and neglected by her previous owner and spent quite a while in animal shelters before I found her. Her mouth was in such bad condition that all of her teeth had to be removed except for her four canines. These (her canine's) should have been removed at the time as well but the animal shelter I got her from did not have the funds nor a vet specialized enough to remove them. This information was not shared with me at the time of adoption so I didn't know the severity of the status of her teeth until now after I took her to the vet for an upset stomach.

The canines in little dogs are incredibly dangerous to remove because their jaws are so small and fragile so its easy to break them in the process of removing the canines. This is why she has to go to a specialist now in order to get them removed. They are infected and causing her quite a bit of pain.

Foxie means the world to me. I have anxiety and depression and  she helps me cope in so many ways. When I'm stressed or sad, she distracts me and offers more comfort than anything ever has and she can sense the slightest changes in my mood. She's always there for me and now I have to be there for her. I can't just sit back and let her suffer. She's my baby and my little guardian angel!

On January 28th, Foxie was due for several vaccines so I took her in to get shots. Then on February 3rd, Foxie started having diarrhea, vomitting and drinking excessively. It took several visits to the vet and antibiotics to figure out that the problem was her food. We got a bad batch of kibble that had been contaminated somehow in the warehouse it came from. All of those vet visits added up and really left me low on funds.

It will cost me between $2600 and $2900 for the dental at the specialist alone (the range depends on how long the procedure lasts; more time means Foxie has to be under anesthesia for longer and the vet working for longer). In addition she had a blood panel and chest x-rays done which totaled $370.

I'm desperate for any help that you are willing to offer. Her surgery is on March 17th, the earliest date the specialist had available. I hate seeing her in pain. Any and all donations help!!! We thank everyone who has shared our story, donated, and prayed for us. We do not have words to express how thankful we are to you guys.
