We don’t want her to give up yet!
 
Susan Slifko (Gillfillan) needs our help. She is facing some tough times and we need to bring her to California so she stands a chance at living with a life-saving liver transplant. Susan is only 64 years young, and is mother, sister and grandmother to three beautiful granddaughters who are adored by all.
 
Decades ago she contracted Hepatitis C, but her liver never healed. Last September she was diagnosed with a mild from of breast cancer, which is limiting the hospitals that will take her “high-risk case.” She currently has Stage 4 cirrhosis of the liver and is in desperate need of a new liver.
Hospitals in Michigan refuse to perform a “living liver transplant.” The good news is that the University of California San Francisco, University of California Los Angeles and the University of Southern California are all willing to evaluate her for the procedure, but she needs to get to California first.

Susan’s family is on-board with her coming to California to try to get the much-needed medical care that will give her another chance at living; however, she has taken a turn for the worst. Due to complications from underlying health issues, she will not be able to make the cross-country flight without the assistance of a nurse who will need to travel with her. When she does arrive to California, she will need round-the-clock care before and after the transplant, until she makes a full recovery. Susan’s insurance and Medicare plans will not cover all the costs needed to save her life.
 
She is in need of hope. We don’t want to see her giving up!
