Hope for Baby Dylan

On Tuesday May 15th, I went in for my 20 week ultrasound and found out I’m having a sweet little girl. I left the clinic as excited as could be, but shortly after I received a phone call from my OB stating that it was believed that her heart was on the outside of her thorax, which is an extremely rare congenital malformation called ectopia cordis.  This rare malformation is just 1 in 130.000. The chance of survival is very low, but I am very hopeful for a GREAT outcome. On Wednesday morning I met with maternal fetal medicine (high risk pregnancy doctors) to confirm the diagnosis. Dylan looks otherwise very healthy and her genetic testing came back without any other abnormalities. I will be meeting with a pediatric fetal doctor on Friday May 25th to take another look at her heart. We will be brought down to Mayo in Rochester where the surgeons and doctors there will look at more scans. While down there, I will have a better outlook on how long of a stay we can expect before and after Dylan’s delivery. 
The money raised here will be used for medical and travel expenses to come and go from Mayo as we are located in the Fargo-Moorhead area. These funds will help us provide the medical care that I need for my little girl to thrive and live the best and most healthy life possible. Prayers are appreciated for our little Dylan. She is a fighter. The situation is very rare, as doctors don't know much, but I am willing to do anything to give my daughter the care that she deserves.

During this time, my job is being very cooperative, however, the leave will not all be paid. There are bills that need to continue to be paid, and important things that I will need help with in order to give her everything she needs in these upcoming months.
