Uncle Dave’s Medical Expenses

Donation protected
Two weeks ago, my Uncle Dave - who I work with - suffered a stroke while we were both at the Office. After being rushed to a hospital nearby, he received medicine to reverse the effects and all signed seemed to be trending toward a full recovery. He was then transferred to a different hospital for more extensive testing and, while en route, he suffered another much more serious stroke in the ambulance and has been suffering from the effects since.

While he is conscious and aware of his surroundings, he has suffered very severe, extensive damage. He’s lost his ability to speak, walk, control the entire left side of his body, swallow food or even breathe on his own regularly. It’s kind of like he’s in the drivers seat but the car can’t go anywhere. He’s able to move his head up and down for “yes” or side to side for “no” and has limited use of his right arm. Our primary form of communication has been yes or no questions and a laminated alphabet where he can point to letters and spell words out for us.

Late last night (Sunday, 11/25), Dave was experiencing dangerously low oxygen levels and has been transferred to intensive care. The plan for now is for him to be intubated and have a tracheotomy later today (Monday, 11/26) where he will hopefully be able to breathe on his own and start showing progress towards an eventual rehabilitation.

I have started this campaign to help my Uncle and, more specifically, my cousins - Ryan, David and Trevor - with the mountain of medical expenses they now face going forward. Going from a full-time job to life in a wheel chair will honestly be the best case scenario at this point and a large portion of the financial burden is going to fall on them. I cannot imagine what they are going through but the strength and maturity my cousins have shown through every step of this devastating process has been inspiring.

My mom, my cousins and my entire family now asks for your prayers and any contribution you can make during this time. Whatever you are able to give, even if it is simply to spread the word, we greatly appreciate it.
