Wally's Heart Transplant

Wally Needs Our Help!

On July 1st of 2015, Wally was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. This resulted in him having a bi-ventricular pacemaker installed on October 20th. Our hope was that, between the pacemaker and medications, his heart would return to acceptable working order and he could go back to a normal life. Unfortunately, this was not the case. Our latest news is that Wally has recently been evaluated and found to be a good candidate for a heart transplant. The transplant specialist at Tampa General is convinced that this is the only course of treatment for Wally’s rapidly progressing heart disease, and that without it, his chance of survival is not good.

Wally is a long time resident of the Seminole/Largo area and has spent the last 23 years working for Vernon Photography which is owned by two of his closest friends, Charlie and Angie Vernon. He has developed the reputation of a warm, compassionate and hardworking photographer and businessman. I met Wally in August of 2011 and I was immediately impressed by how many people love and respect him. Not only is he a wonderful husband and a great father to his son and daughter, but he has been an incredible step-dad to my two boys since our marriage in September of 2012.

While transplants are lifesaving, they are also often financially draining. Despite insurance, Wally and I will be facing very high medical expenses. The loss of his job, as a result of not being able to fulfill his duties, has added to that strain. Hospital stays, post-transplant medications of up to $2000 a month, co-pays, lab fees and day-to-day expenses all add up.

To help with the financial burden of Wally’s uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign in his honor has been established by our family via GoFundMe.

We sincerely thank you for your prayers, support and generosity. We will be providing updates on his health, the transplant journey, and news of upcoming fundraising events. To know that we are waiting for a family to lose a loved one in order that ours may live is quite humbling, therefore we ask for prayers for the donor and his/her family.

With gratitude to you and a steadfast faith that nothing is impossible for our God,

Denise (Wally’s Wife)
