I’ve been considering raising money for some time now to buy a thermal camera (details below) to help in searches for lost dogs, often in the most difficult circumstances
More and more, when dogs go missing in our rural area, there are calls for this type of equipment to help.
Only this week a dog in our area (D&G) was caught as a direct result of thermal imaging when he became stuck and frightened on the wrong side of an electric fence. The dog was too scared to move or make a sound and despite hours of searching by the owner and members of the public, in complete darkness, it was impossible. Within an hour of someone loaning a thermal imaging camera they’d picked up the dog and got him home safe .
With the early nights upon us this is only going to continue over the next few months and I really believe this equipment could be life saving.
The cameras are hugely expensive - but I feel if we are spending this amount of money we get it right and get the equipment that’s going to work the best
There are so many occasions when we are doing searches in woodland and open fields when the distance and quality of these cameras would make such a difference.
Those who know me know I don’t ask for money lightly, however, those same people have reminded me that this vital equipment is not for me, it will help so many people be reunited with their lost dogs in Dumfries and Galloway (and further afield where possible) and that’s what the funds are for - to help the lost dogs who need it most
This fundraiser has been set up to help towards this, and I will be looking at other means of raising money as well, outwith of here. Any additional funds raised will be used for lost dog equipment and very much appreciated. Any support you can give would be so gratefully received, even if its a share - every single thing helps... thank you so much for your continued support

In an ideal world, if enough funds are raised, this is the camera I think would be great - if that’s not raised, there’s other options on the same site
