Cancer Related Expenses/Pre-Planning

Deb Thompson Slack is my beautiful cousin. She is the loving wife of Kenny “Biggums” Slack and mother to her one and only sonshine, Nathan Slack. Deb worked as a Medical Assistant in various doctors offices in The Lehigh Valley. In 2011, she was diagnosed with Metastatic Breast Cancer which forced her to go on disability. Unfortunately, Deb lost her insurances and fell into that grey area where, up until very recently, she didn’t qualify for additional medical insurance due to her disability income. In addition to medical, she lost her employer sponsored life insurance and her cancer diagnosis prevented her from ever being able to obtain private life insurance. Recently, Deb was placed on Hospice care. She is consciously aware that her battle is coming to an end and her biggest fear is leaving her husband and son with the financial burdens often associated with Cancer. No one should ever stress about finances when they are facing their own mortality. As a fellow Cancer “surviving,” I promised Deb I would help to make sure her transition is a smooth and worry free.With Deb’s permission, her good friend Dana and I are fundraising to cover her current expenses and to pre-plan her funeral.
