Dear friends and family,
On Monday, May 15, 2017, my father-in-law (Ely) was involved in a serious head on collision. As you can see from the photo, his car accident was a severe, devasting event. He was admitted to Shands with multiple injuries including broken ribs and multiple pelvic fractures. He underwent a 5 hour operation this past Saturday, May 20, 2017 to address these issues. He is still in the hospital with an anticipated discharge to a rehab center later this week. He is facing a very long, difficult road to recovery. It is almost guaranteed that he will become arthritic, suffer decreased mobility, and face a potential total hip replacement within a couple of years. He and my mother-in-law do not work. They are retired and on a stringent fixed income. They are facing astronomical bills. They will not be able to replace the car that was totaled in the accident. They are struggling with transportation issues (they live over an hour away from Shands), co pays, and keeping things afloat. We're reaching out to you to help us in anyway possible.
