Singer in Need—All State trip

Friends, I am going out on a limb and praying for a miracle. One of my sweet students has worked INCREDIBLY hard and is about to miss out on a life-changing opportunity because of circumstances out of her family’s control. This student auditioned for the Louisiana All State Children’s Choir and received a perfect score from the judges (a rare occurrence). She has been practicing on her own and with me for WEEKS for learn the 6 choral pieces required for the All State Fall Vocal Conference, which is next week, Nov 1-3 in New Orleans. When I say this is a life-changing experience for students, I am not exaggerating!! Especially for musically gifted children, this can be an opportunity that opens doors to see a world they didn’t even know existed. This child has a single mother who works very hard to provide for her children. She lost her job today and let me know that she wouldn’t be able to take her child to New Orleans for All State next week. I’ve explored other avenues to help and am at a dead end. With her permission, I asked to make this post anonymously and possibly give someone else the opportunity to be a blessing to this child (and the mother), and literally change their lives. I have so many friends who believe in the power of music, but even more importantly believe that God loves to lavishly love us!! Asking for something like this is WAY out of my comfort zone, but I just felt I was supposed to ask if someone would want to pass on the gift of music and the love of God to this family. If you would be interested in donating toward a scholarship fund for this student to be able to be a part of the 2018 Louisiana All State Choir in New Orleans, any donation would be greatly appreciated.
