Cheering for Charlie

Donation protected
I will start with a little background information for those of you who don't know Charlie personally. He's 29 years young, he will be 30 in November. He's well known for his exceptional wrestling skills. Charlie is a Veteran, he recently ended his term with Indiana National Guard as a Sgt. He attended Lindsey Wilson College where he became their first wrestler to win a National Championship title. He then continued his studies as a Grad Assistant Coach and graduated in December of 2014 with his Bachelor's in Communications. A few short months later Charlie & I had our son, Chayton Lee. He is now 19 months old and has brought endless joy into our lives. Charlie now coaches the Greencastle High School Wrestling team, something that he has always wanted to do. As for the two of us, we have started a small business from home. We craft handmade home decor and furniture out of reclaimed barn lumber.

Charlie was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor. About a week or two ago he started having strange symptoms. The right did of his body would lock up, he would drool, become incoherent, etc. However, he never lost consciousness. As it turned out, he was actually having seizures. The tumor was pushing against his brain causing it to swell, therefore causing his seizures and some other symptoms as well. He was rushed to St. Vincent from PCH after being diagnosed, where they originally intended to do a biopsy. Due to it's location, they didn't think the tumor was able to be surgically removed at first. After reviewing more images they've decided it is an option. They eventually ruled out the biopsy, and we now have a consultation Monday at Methodist to discuss the risks of surgery. After which, we will set a date.

Unfortunately, at the time Charlie was admitted and diagnosed, he did not have health insurance. We will be paying all of his medical expenses from his 3 day emergency visit and ambulance ride out of pocket. Thankfully, his insurance will be active prior to the surgery, so we are relieved of that major financial burden.

We have had many of you reach out to us wanting to help financially. We would not normally accept help from others but considering these rare circumstances, we have thought it best that we don't deny help from those who offer. All donations will go to medical expenses, as well as help contribute to household expenses if necessary.

We would like to thank all of our dearest friends and family for simply being there for us. We would also like to thank each one of you for your generous thoughts and taking the time out of your day to read our page.
