Help Us Make History-New Electrical

Tax deductible
When the Jacob Odell house, the home of the Historical Society, was built, it was the cutting edge of mid-19th century architecture and engineering. While our archives and museum have bridged the history of our Villages to the 21st century, our electrical system… not so much. We have moved to solar power in keeping with the Odell’s lead on using the most up-to-date power of the time, but find ourselves in need of a wiring upgrade to accommodate that technology.

The Historical Society received a grant to solarize and upgrade our HVAC system. In the process of that upgrade we found that we also needed to update the 1850 electrical system to accommodate the solar and HVAC.
Your donations will allow us to offset the additional spend required to have a fully functional system which has caused us to have to borrow from our reserve funds.
Why did we do this?  Although the Society is housed in a circa 1850's residential home, we are considered a commercial business by the electrical company.  Moving to Solar has allowed us to cut $100 per month off of our electrical bill.
The new HVAC system replaces our oil burner which is past it's viable life and would need to be replaced this year AND the new system provides Air Conditioning something we have not had! Our collections will be protected for many more years now that the climate can be effectively controlled all year long.
