Study Abroad in Madagascar
Donation protected
Hello everyone! My name is Casey Stallman and I am a molecular biology major at West Virginia Wesleyan College, with my goals set toward medical school to become a pediatrician.
I have recently discovered a study abroad program in Antananarivo, Madagascar that emphasizes healthcare and traditional medicine, and I am currently trying to obtain adequate funding for my trip. The program runs for six and a half weeks, June 18th through August 1st, and includes two homestays with families in both the a rural and urban city in addition to three courses: Malagasy (the language of Madagascar), Social and Political Dimensions of Health, and Healthcare Practice in Madagascar.
This program's medical focus is extremely unique and will provide me with invaluable experience in the medical field prior to medical school. Many of the course instructors are physicians and traditional healers in Madagascar, which will allow me to volunteer and shadow outside of the classroom.
This adventure will be my first time out of the United States and will not be possible without further financial support.
I am asking for a total of $3,000 to fund my trip, and need the funds by March 31st, 2019. Your financial support will go directly toward:
Program Fees
Room and Board Expenses
Visa
Immunizations mandated by the World Health Organization
If you are interested in more information about this program you can access the website here: https://studyabroad.sit.edu/programs/summer/summer-2019/mgh/
Thank you for taking the time to make a once-in-a-lifetime dream trip become reality.
ny fitiavako rehetra ("all my love" in Malagasy),
Casey
