Kashif has Motor Neurone Disease

Motor Neurone Disease (MND) comes out of the blue and affects people of all ages. It is progressive and incurable and can lead to death quickly, often within 18 months. 

Kashif is a Trainee Cardiac Surgeon at Hammersmith Hospital. He has a young family and had his whole life ahead of him when in January 2018 he began to notice that his hands would not do what was needed. Now, in September 2018, he already cannot talk properly and is limping. He is no longer able to work.

Sometime in 2019, he will likely lose the battle with MND. He will leave behind his wife, young son and daughter. The picture above is from happier times. He also leaves doctors, nurses, operating theatre staff, therapists, administrative  staff and, of course, his patients, who will miss his charm and skills. Most will not have a chance to see him again as he is no longer able to come to the hospital.
