We reached our goal! We reached our goal! Ms. Peckham & Ms. Oney, we wanted this for you because you deserve nice things back in your classroom.
I know that the computers and the smart boards will be replaced by the school, but the other little things that make the classroom feel awesome and help make learning fun are really important. I don't know a lot about insurance and stuff, but my mom said that the school is taking care of you. We will be bringing you the first donation check on Friday, the 17th, but we will keep this site open for more donors since you need more stuff in your classroom still like beanbags and things like that.
We hope that this fundraiser and ALLLLLLL of the people (some of them are strangers) that have donated really will help you to Pick Up The Pieces. Yesterday, in English class, Sydney and I were called to the front of the whole class (not where I'm most comfortable) and our teacher, Mrs. Faris had seen us on the news on Friday. She was surprised to see her students and she was proud of us that we were standing up for what we believed in. I think it's really cool to see that people donate to repair stuff and don't think about what the bad guys did.
We can't change what happened, but we can be excited about the future, we can smile, and we can say, "KINDNESS ALWAYS WINS."
If you're reading this, thank you. That means that you're either Ms. Oney or Ms. Peckham, you're someone that loves them, or someone that loves us... Maybe you're a stranger, but not for long!
We had a super cool day today and we're having a sleepover to watch all of the news stories tonight. How many other kids are spending their Friday night watching the news???????
Before we say anything else, we want to take a second to thank everyone who has donated this week to our teachers. We have learned this week that KINDNESS ALWAYS WINS!
We had soooooo much fun with news interviews today and got to tell them about how to help Ms. Peckham and Ms. Oney. We don't know how else to say it, but it's super cool. Here are the links to the news stories and the videos:
We found out that it was okay to show some of the pictures of the stuff that the bad guys did. She said that the pictures don't do it justice. It makes my heart hurt to see what they did! Ms. Oney said that so much of the classroom items had to be thrown away because the bad guys sprayed it in that fire extinguisher stuff and now it needs to be replaced so those students can get back to work. A lot of the student's personal property was destroyed and we weren't thinking of how much it might cost to replace pencil boxes binders and notebooks for 60 kids too. Here's a list of the small supplies that Ms. Oney sent us that they'll need for the classroom because a lot of people have asked what they can deliver to the school if they're there:
Treasure Box (with rewards)
Floor Pillows/ Bean Bags
We want to give a shout out to Mr. Darnell Cardines for helping us reach our SECOND GOAL of $1200.00. Thank you, Mr. Cardines. Like I said before, when you cross a finish line, you don't just stop there, you have to run through the finish line. We got to see Ms. Peckham & Ms. Oney today when we took them some goodies to cheer them up. I posted the picture of Me, Syd and Macaiah with them. Ms. Oney cried! On her birthday, too. Thank you again. I feel like I say that a lot. I don't know what other words to use to say how cool it is that everyone is helping our teachers. My aunt said that if you're not gonna dream big, then why dream at all, so we're dreaming big and believing that we can meet the next goal!
We reached our first goal! I did a jig for my sister, and that is SO not me! Syd and I thought that we needed to keep going to help Ms. Peckham and Ms. Oney. It's like when you run a really big race and finally get to the finish line. You can't just STOP when you hit that line, you have to keep running through it, so that's what we're doing. Maybe we can afford to get them a computer or something really super important that they can't teach without after all. They're really special to us and to lots of other people, so Thank You for helping them! Here' s another picture that I wanted to share with you. This is of Ms. Peckham at my graduation. (I love this picture). I don't have a picture of Me, Sydney, Ms. Oney and Ms. Peckham all together in one picture. That's way too much funny to have in one picture!
I can't believe how awesome people are to donate. They must love Ms. Oney & Ms. Peckham as much as we do. We raised the goal amount last night after learning how expensive things are and we never knew that teachers pay for a lot of stuff BY THEMSELVES! Ms. Oney & Ms. Peckham taught us to dream big, so we are. They deserve it. Also, it's Ms. Oney's birthday today (Wednesday), so if you're reading this, please wish her a happy birthday, too. Thanks for supporting them.
Sydney & Callie
Hi everyone! This is Callie Addleman & Sydney James asking for you to join us in helping out some superstars that we really love! During winter break, our teacher's classroom was vandalized. This is a classroom that is used by two teachers, meaning that like 60 students call this their homeroom! Nearly everything in this classroom from the APPLE COMPUTER to the copy paper and markers were destroyed with water, paint, and other damaging stuff. We would include pictures of what the damage was, but they're not even appropriate for this page because the bad guys did awful things to the room that you wouldn't want to see! Our teachers, Ms. Lacey Peckham and Ms. Leslie Oney taught us in 4th and 5th grade in Steven G. Schorr Elementary School, where I met Sydney and our friend, Macaiah, who is also in the picture and you'll meet her in our video (please watch that, too). We've moved up to Silvestri Junior High now, but these two teachers really made a big difference in our lives and we want to help to make a difference in theirs. They can't teach without the right tools and their students deserve to have all of the awesome stuff that we had. We're busy being 6th graders now, but we're working hard to raise money for them to get things that they need. Sydney is babysitting and selling lollipops, and I'm (Callie) making and selling hair bows and headbands. ALL of the money that we make is also going towards the 'Picking up the Pieces' fund. If you've taken the time to read this, thank you! Not all kids have teachers in their lives that really make a difference like Ms. Peckham & Ms. Oney. Thanks again for helping them. Love, Callie and Sydney
