Lennon Ruffles Charity Fund
Thank you!! We have now reached the first target of £15k! And, because we have done so well and had so much support, we are going to continue to fundraise for Lennon. As he gets older he will always need expensive equipment, and we really want to make his short life as fulfilled and fun as possible.
Lennon is 7 and life limited. He has an array of extremely complex medical conditions, and requires hourly care around the clock. He is under 9 different medical teams at Great Ormond St. hospital, and attends Keech Hospice in Luton when possible for much needed respite.
He goes to an amazing special needs school and has a dual sensory impairment intervenor. He has a deaf blind diagnosis.
Lennon suffers with a lot of pain in his gut, and self harms as a result.
He is the most amazing child, almost always happy and smiling. He has a very captivating personality.
£1373 for a special needs bike. The charity whizz kids are funding £3500 towards this.
£6000 ish to have a small soft, padded area downstairs at home so he can play safely and not bang his head.
£8000 for an eye gaze computer. Lennon uses one of these at school. It's a good way for him to learn to communicate with others. At present, he has very little communication - we show him photos of places we are going to, and let him make choices using 2 different photos.
It will also enable him to play more independently. He isn't capable of playing iPad, games etc without an adult.
After a really bad few months, Lennon is the happiest he's been all year so that's a good start!
Thank you to everyone who helps us to fundraise - this bed and similar things is what your money goes towards. Without this bed, we wouldn't be able to come to Torquay and give Lennon a well deserved holiday.
This is what weekends mostly consist of for Lennon, especially when the weather is bad. We try and take Lennon out as much as possible as he loves being outside.
But the rest of the weekends for Lennon consist of either lying on his mat flocking his catalogues or sitting in his ppod watching dad play mario kart for him ( even that has been exhausted as Ian has completed the whole game now!)
No matter how many toys or games we introduce to Lennon, he is simply not interested. His development level and sensory impairment make 'normal' toys appear boring to Lennon.
For him to have a magic carpet, would really change his world and bring him so much entertainment and happiness for years to come ❤️
He accesses one at school and loves it! It is also very good for developing his communication and for his Physio.
We are now looking at getting a touch screen that we can use in conjunction with it, as school feel he has progressed on from eye gaze in the last year, which is amazing!!!
I can't tell you how much Lennon would benefit from this. Imagine if your child could not play computer games, play with siblings, go out and play outside, read a book. That is what life for Lennon is like, he is a child with not much means of having fun. This would bring him a world of fun!!!
Please, if you can donate, if not a share would be just as valuable x
And a massive thank you to all for your support and donations throughout 2014.
We took Lennon skiing yesterday for the first time, he loved it!
There is a video on Lennon's facebook page if your wondering how - www.facebook.com/Lennonslegs
We also took Lennon and Isla to see Disney on Ice. Lennon loved every second! Even more reason to get him to Disney at some point.
Lennon's been really well over the Christmas break so far, and he's been running around in his walking frame and enjoying himself.
Please get in contact with us if you would like to help Lennon's Fund by planning a fundraiser this year, or of you can help us in any way.
If you can't help or donate, a share is just as valuable.
