Please Help If You Can
PLEASE SEE THE UPDATES TO EXPLAIN WHY THE SITE HAS CHANGED. Sorry for the confusion. I'm overwhelmed.
First, I apologize for the roughness of this. I am feeling scared and urgent and just wanted to get something up. It is July 2nd, two days ago I went into the ER with stomach pains that were just not going away that I had been having for over 3 weeks. I had been to the doctor three times already and tested for many things. Long story short I have stage 3 ovarian cancer. (CORRECTION - CURRENT DIAGNOSIS IS PERITONEAL MESOTHELIOMA.)
I eat a very healthy diet, exercise a a lot and and am a positive happy person and do my best to make the world a better place every day. I love my job cooking for people. I have been clean and sober for over 25 years. I have a daughter who is beyond amazing, incredible friends and a wonderful life. And now I have a big challenge. I am saddest for my daughter about my diagnosis.
I have Medicaid which is good for treatment in this state but not for out of state or alternative treatment which I would like to do in conjunction with surgery and chemotherapy. I have a housemate who has been living with me for almost 3 years but will be graduating law school soon and probably moving out. I do not want to deal with getting a new roommate at this juncture of my life. Though I love cooking and what I do for work I will need to take time off for surgery and treatment.
I do have some savings and live very modestly and frugally. I have zero debt. But I am asking for help if it is something you can do without compromising yourself. Since I will have to pay out of pocket if I go to my desired treatment center (currently Dana Farber Cancer institute) the savings I have will dwindle quickly.
I am shocked and overwhelmed. I am grateful for any help you can generate and your thoughts and love mean a lot too. Thank you.
